According to German tradition the family gets together on Christmas Eve to open presents. Since my grandma is German we have always stayed true to this concept. However, this year my dad had to work a normal shift on Christmas Eve and was tired by the time he came home. This meant that the trip to my grandma's would be postponed a day.

The morning began as usual at my house where we first opened up the stockings. Then we dug into the wrapping paper to find an assortment of things. Up until Christmas my mum had emphasized the fact I would be getting her cell phone since she didn't use it very much even after I showed her a picture of the phone I wanted on the internet. She tricked me out so much I had no idea what was in store. She kept saying that Tim hadn't gotten as many gifts as Lauren and I because his gifts were so expensive. Looking at my pile it seemed hopeless that I would get a cell phone. At that point in time I was determined to be thankful for my mum's old phone. It just so happened that the last package I chose to open was the box with the cell phone! My sister was ecstatic since she got the purple version. She didn't expect to get her phone replaced.

Then, we all headed to my grandma's house.

Over the river and through the woods
To Grandmother's house we go
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
Through white and drifted snow
Over the river and through the woods
Oh how the wind does blow
It stings the toes and bites the nose
As over the ground we go

Soon it was time to leave. I certainly had a good sleep. ;)
