rain, rain, go away, come again another day.

I felt ever so "momish" as today I was the one who stayed home while my mum and sister went to my school to paint scenes for the spring musical. I was also left in charge of my brother while my dad did outside work. Eventually my brother did go outside, and ran back in to announce how he had washed the car-inside and out.

I was super excited since today marked the first bicycle ride of the season for my dad and I. This summer we are hoping to do road races at the farm park. On the way to the rails to trails near our house it began to drizzle. How convenient that the local meteorologists were actually correct with their forecast! None the less, my dad and I were still determined. Our plans were to do an easy ride of about 4 or 5 miles. My bike has been broken since the moment I got it. The gears were messing up once again to the point where there was little to no resistance at the highest shift. My dad stopped to fix it. Next, my pedal actually came off! My dad stopped to fix that as well. By this point in time, the rain was coming down more than just the previous drizzle. After going about 1 mile in one direction, the pedal came off twice. After fixing it again, we decided to turn around. It came off again, much to my dismay. My dad ended up jamming a little stick in the screw, so it would hopefully last the rest of the way back. Well, it didn't. I ended up walking the last 100 meters to get to the van. I was soaked at this point. So much for my exciting bike ride! I ended up going only about 2 miles. Later I told my mum that the rain was a blessing in disguise. How awful would it have been if the same thing would have happened, but on a sunny day? The moral of the story: Walmart bikes don't last. :)

I did clean some rooms, but not as much as I had hoped to get done. Around 1 I realized how exhausted I had been. Last night I had a band competition to go to, and it really drained me. My dad said I could take a nap, and even though I set my alarm clock for 1 hour and 1/2, I ended up napping for a little under 3 hours. I am still a little groggy, but the nap really helped!

I am hoping to be more regular on the blog scene, but with track starting on Monday, and just a few weekends till the musical, we'll see how realistic daily blogging really is! I've missed all of my bloggers.
